Introducción
En el mes de octubre de 2008 se organizó en la ciudad
de La Serena-Chile el Seminario Internacional "Líquidos Iónicos: Datos
Experimen-tales y Estimación de Propiedades" que contó con la asistencia
de uno de los líderes mundiales en el desarrollo y aplicación de los
líquidos iónicos, el Dr. Kenneth Seddon del Centro QUILL de la Univ. Queen de Irlanda del Norte. La Dra. Maggel Deetlefs Directora Asistente de
QUILL presentó también conferencias sobre la investigación
en el Centro. El evento que se realizó en la Universidad de La Serena, contó con el apoyo de la Com.Nac. de Inv. en
Ciencia y Tecnología a través de los Proyectos Fondecyt 7080011 y 1070025: "Propiedades
de Líquidos Iónicos y su Aplicación al Modelado del Equilibrio entre Fases
para Procesos de Separación".
El Seminario representó una especial oportunidad
para que los investigadores participantes, provenientes de varias
Universidades en Chile, se motivaran para dar inicio a esta Red
que hemos denominado CHILI, Grupo Chileno de Líquidos Iónicos. En esta página se presentarán artículos y otros
documentos relacionados con los avances de los investigadores del grupo en
distintas áreas de la investigación de los líquidos iónicos, de
manera que este sitio sea el vehículo de comunicación efectiva entre los
miembros de CHIL y otros investigadores del mundo.

Introduction
During October 2008 the International Seminar "Ionic Liquids:
Experimental Data and Property Estimation" was held in the beautiful
city of La Serena-Chile. The main guest speaker was one of the world leaders
on the development and applications of ionic liquids, Prof. Kenneth Seddon of
the QUILL Centre, The Queen's University of Belfast, Northern Ireland. Also, Dr.
Maggel Deetlefs Assistant Director of QUILL attended the congress and
presented lectures related to the research done at QUILL. The Seminar was
sponsored by the University of La Serena and was
financed by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Research of
Chile through the research grants Fondecyt 7080011 y 1070025.
The Seminar represented a especial opportunity for motivating the
participants, researchers coming from several Universities in Chile, to initiate this
Network that we have named CHILI, Chilean Ionic Liquid Group. This
Web page will be dedicated to present current articles and other type of documents
related to the advances on different aspects of ionic liquid research, so
this becomes an effective vehicle of communication between the members of
the group and other researchers around the world.
